Why Psychological Assessment?
People often come to assessment seeking clarity. Maybe you’ve asked yourself:
- Why do I struggle in ways others don’t seem to?
- Could I have ADHD, a learning difference, or anxiety?
- What supports might actually help me thrive at school, work, or in relationships?
- Could there be an explanation or diagnosis for the challenges I’ve faced?
At Healing Paths Psychology, assessment is not just about labels - it's about insight. Whether you're seeking answers about attention, learning, memory, emotional patterns, or adaptive functioning, we approach the process with curiosity, compassion, and care to help you understand yourself better.
Additionally, assessments can provide more than answers — they can open doors. If you're seeking accommodations at school or work, applying for government supports (such as AISH, PDD or CRA Disability), a well-done assessment may be a powerful first step forward.
What To Expect
Consultation
Before starting any assessment, we offer a complimentary consultation to understand your needs, answer your questions, and explore the best fit for services.
Most assessments are conducted in-person at our Calgary office. Online options are available across Alberta for some interview-based assessments. Assessments are conducted at your pace. Questions are always welcome — in fact, they’re encouraged. Many clients find the process itself validating, even before results are shared, as it provides space to reflect on their experiences in a thoughtful and nonjudgmental environment.
Common Assessment Services that we provide:
Psychoeducational Assessments
Understanding learning differences, processing strengths, and what accomodations or supports may help you succeed in academic or workplace settings.
ADHD Assessments
Clarify whether ADHD may be affecting attention, executive function, or emotional regulation.
ADHD assessments can be done independently or as part of a broader psychoeducational evaluation.
PTSD and Trauma-Informed Assessments
We offer trauma-informed diagnostic assessments, including those required by Veterans Affairs or workplace insurers.
These assessments explore symptoms using best-practice tools and clinical interviews.
Mental Health Assessments
For clients seeking clarity on symptoms or diagnoses such as depression, anxiety, OCD, or personality disorders.
The use of various objective, semi-structured and structured interviews provide a structured and validated process.
Disability Assessments
Assessments that may support eligibility for government or community supports such as AISH and the CRA Disability Tax Credit applications may incorporate a variety of the assessments from the list above. Please book a free consultation to discuss it with us.
